In addition, a passionate greeting will help you solve all your troubles and questions while in Uganda. Similarly, a handshake may be appropriate in most greeting situations in Uganda. Along with that, shaking hands is considered as a way to connect with individuals and to show respect for the other person. In particular, one thing to keep in mind in the ritual culture when traveling to Uganda is to pay attention to the Muslim element in Ugandan society, especially in Kampala. Visitors should only use their right hand to pass or receive something or shake hands with Ugandans. Because in their culture, it is not acceptable to use the left hand for such actions.

What makes a traditional Ugandan wedding so special?
Weddings are always considered one of the most important ceremonies in everyone's life, but each country, and each region will have different customs. Families in modern-day Uganda continue to follow the traditional Ugandan wedding ceremony, known as “The Introduction” or “The Giving Away Ceremony”. In Uganda, marriage is an important social gathering that brings people together. However, the wedding is not only held for the bride and groom but is also considered an important event showing the wealth or social status of the two families.
In Uganda, church weddings are not attended by many people according to Ugandan marriage customs. Although even if church weddings are uncommon, celebrations should always begin there with God's blessing. Brides wear white gowns, and grooms wear tuxedos in the cities, while married women guests generally wear traditional attire.

A one-of-a-kind gorgeous wedding dress for Uganda brides
There are many elements that make a traditional wedding beautiful but the bride’s outfit is usually the highlight. No matter the country or tribe, wedding dresses remain the biggest marvel at the ceremony. Are you curious about the wedding dress for Uganda brides?
The traditional wedding dress of the Ugandan bride is the “gomesi”, which is considered to be the perfect outfit and enhances the temperament of the Ugandan woman. This is designed with a light silk dress with puffy sleeves and tied with a belt placed below the waist over the hips. Most gomesi dresses are made of silk, cotton, or linen, of which silk is the most expensive. Gomesi is usually characterized by two buttons to the left of the neckline. Especially, a standard Gomesi may require up to 6 meters of fabric. In Ugandan families, mothers often give their favorite “gomesi” to their daughters and grandchildren as a dowry when their daughters get married. Meanwhile, Ugandan women from the West and North West are sometimes given the choice of long dresses with pleats around the waist and shoulders, called suuka, to wear on their wedding day.
