Uganda Visa Requirements For Austrian Citizens

Austrian citizens need a visa to enter Uganda. Depending on the purpose and length of their stay, they may need to apply for either a tourist visa or a business visa.

Recently, Austrian citizens can apply for an Uganda visa online through the Uganda Immigration Services website or obtain one on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. However, it is recommended that travelers apply for their visas before arriving in Uganda to avoid any potential delays or issues at the border.

It is important to note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, entry requirements and visa policies can change at short notice, so travelers should check the latest information from the Uganda embassy or consulate in Austria before making any travel plans.

Austrian nationals are able to apply for a visa online (e-visa) to Uganda. The e-visa is an electronic visa that can be obtained before traveling to Uganda by applying online at the Uganda Immigration Services website.

Austrian nationals must have a valid passport, a digital passport photograph, and a valid email account in order to apply for an e-visa. They will also need to supply information regarding their trip, such as travel dates, the purpose of travel, and accommodation information.

The e-visa will be delivered to the applicant's email address after the application has been filed and accepted. The e-visa, together with the traveler's passport, should be printed and submitted at the port of entry.

It is crucial to remember that the processing period for e-visas varies, so visitors should apply for their visas well in advance of their anticipated trip date to give them enough time for processing.

Austrian nationals holding an e-visa can stay in Uganda for a maximum of 90 days for tourism purposes. If an Austrian citizen leaves Uganda during their allotted stay, they must apply for a new visa to re-enter the country.

For tourism purposes, Austrian nationals may apply the following e-visa types:

• Tourist e-Visa: Applicants can enter Uganda for tourism purposes for a maximum of 90 days. This is a single-entry visa and cannot be extended. 
• East Africa e-Visa: This e-visa grants multiple entries into Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda for a duration of 90 days. This visa allows tourism purposes and it cannot be extended.
• Transit e-Visa: This visa allows visitors to remain in Uganda for 7 days during a transition to their next destination. The transit visa cannot be extended.

If an Austrian citizen has to stay in Uganda for more than 90 days, they must request an extension to their visa at the official Uganda Immigration authorities before their approved stay term expires.

Austrian nationals can apply for an Uganda visa online (e-visa) by doing the following steps:

Step 1: Begin application, select "Apply Visa".

Step 2: Select the number of applicants as well as the visa type for your trip. For processing time service charges, applicants can find more information in the next section. 

Step 3: Fill in your personal details.

• Full name and date of birth.
• Gender.
• Nationality.
• Passport details. 
• Date of issue.
• Date of expiration.

Step 4: Select the method of payment and submit your application. 

When you submit your application, you will get an email confirming receipt alongside a reference number. The processing period for e-visas varies. However, it usually takes around 3 working days. You will receive an email with a link to download and print the e-visa after it has been authorized.

It is important to remember that the Uganda e-visa system might occasionally have technical issues or delays, so visitors should apply for their visas well in advance of their desired trip dates to allow for processing time.

Austrian residents who exceed their Uganda e-visa duration may face penalties, expulsion, and/or a prohibition from visiting the country in the future. Overstays of more than 60 days may result in criminal law enforcement, depending on the length of the overstay. To avoid overstaying, Austrian nationals ought to check the validity date on their e-visa before coming to Uganda and departing Uganda before their permitted stay time expires.

If an Austrian citizen desires to stay in Uganda for an extended time than allowed, they can request a visa extension at the Uganda Immigration Department. It is essential to remember that visa extension requests are not always guaranteed and to avoid applying for visa extensions on the last date of their granted visa duration.

The cost of an e-visa to Uganda for Austrians varies based on the service and the Rush Visa service you select. • Normal Processing - Applicants will receive their visa within 03 business days when choosing standard processing.
• Urgent Processing - When selecting urgent processing, your visa is approved within 48 business hours. 
• Super Urgent Processing - For super urgent processing, you can get your visa approved within 24 business hours.
